Bladder leaks? Let’s talk options.
Stress, urge and mixed incontinence explained, plus how Emsella, an FDA-cleared non-invasive treatment, can help.
Urinary incontinence is common, and treatable
Urinary incontinence means leaking urine when you don’t mean to. BTL reports that 50% of women have some form of incontinence (BTL, data on file). It is common, and you don’t have to simply live with it.
Types of urinary incontinence
Stress incontinence
Leaks with pressure on the bladder: coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, running or lifting. Often linked to pregnancy, childbirth and weakened pelvic floor muscles.
Urge incontinence
A sudden, intense need to urinate, sometimes with leaking before you reach the bathroom. Often called overactive bladder.
Mixed incontinence
A combination of stress and urge symptoms. It is very common in women.
Other types
Overflow and functional incontinence have different causes and need a physician’s evaluation.
How Emsella helps
Emsella is FDA-cleared for the treatment of male and female urinary incontinence. It uses HIFEM® energy to produce thousands of pelvic floor contractions per session, helping strengthen weak muscles and restore neuromuscular control (BTL).
In that study, women with stress, urge and mixed incontinence were included, and the biggest average improvement was in mixed incontinence. Results vary.
When to see a physician first
